It has been announced that director Zack Snyder will return to filmmaking with the Netflix project, Army of the Dead. Described as a “zombie thriller,” the film tracks a group of mercenaries as they venture into a quarantine zone following a zombie outbreak to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.
The project is a return to familiar territory for Snyder. His directorial debut was 2004’s James Gunn-written Dawn of the Dead, a remake of George Romero’s classic zombie tale. Snyder’s other directing credits include 300, Watchmen, and Man of Steel. Snyder has not directed a film since the death of his daughter forced him to depart from 2017’s Justice League. That film was completed by Joss Whedon.
