Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Tampa Bay Lightning has been added to the Atlantic Division roster for the 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Game at SAP Center in San Jose on Jan. 26 (8 p.m. ET; NBC, CBC, SN, TVAS). The fifth-year goalie replaces Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens and will team with Jimmy Howard of the Detroit Red Wings.
It will be the second All-Star Game appearance for Vasilevskiy, who teamed with Price in goal for the Atlantic Division last year. He joins Lightning forwards Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos on the Atlantic roster.
Vasilevskiy, 24, is 16-4-2 with a 2.66 goals-against average,.920 save percentage and one shutout for the League-leading Lightning (32-8-2). He was 44-17-3 last season with a 2.62 GAA, .920 save percentage and three shutouts, and tied Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets for most wins in the NHL.
Vasilevskiy missed 15 games earlier this season with a broken left foot.
Price was selected to play but has been battling a nagging lower-body injury, and the Canadiens said Monday he will skip the game to rest. The 31-year-old is 16-12-4 with a 2.71 GAA, .909 save percentage and two shutouts. Price, who played Montreal’s past three games after missing three because of injury, has played in six All-Star Games.
