McDavid wins fastest skater for third straight year at All-Star Skills

SAN JOSE — Connor McDavid won the Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater for the third straight time at the 2019 SAP NHL All-Star Skills at SAP Center on Friday.

The Edmonton Oilers center had a time of 13.378, defeating Buffalo Sabres center Jack Eichel by .204 seconds (13.582).

McDavid is the first three-time winner in the history of the competition. Sergei Fedorov (1992, ’94), Mike Gartner (1993, ’96), Scott Niedermayer (1998, 2004), Peter Bondra (1997, ’99) and Sami Kapanen (2000, 2002) each won it twice.

Kendall Coyne Schofield, a forward for the United States Women’s National Team, became the first woman to compete in the NHL All-Star Skills, finishing seventh of eight participants in 14.346. 

Forwards Cam Atkinson (Columbus Blue Jackets), Mathew Barzal (New York Islanders), Clayton Keller (Arizona Coyotes) and Elias Pettersson (Vancouver Canucks), and defenseman Miro Heiskanen (Dallas Stars) also competed.
