SAN JOSE — Johnny Gaudreau of the Calgary Flames won the Gatorade NHL Puck Control event at the 2019 SAP NHL All-Star Skills at SAP Center on Friday.
Gaudreau was timed in 27.045 seconds. Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane was second in 28.611.
It’s Gaudreau’s second straight win in this event. He won last year at Tampa with a time of 24.650 seconds.
The puck-control event required the eight competitors to control a puck through a series of 10 pucks set up in a straight line, then through a series of eight cones set in a zig-zag formation and then to shoot or otherwise guide the puck through the lit rung of each of three gates before completing the event by shooting the puck into the net.
Forwards Claude Giroux (Philadelphia Flyers), Gabriel Landeskog (Colorado Avalanche), Elias Pettersson (Vancouver Canucks), Mark Scheifele (Winnipeg Jets), Jeff Skinner (Buffalo Sabres) and John Tavares (Toronto Maple Leafs) also competed.
