Khudobin makes 49 saves, Stars shut out Predators

NASHVILLE — Anton Khudobin made 49 saves for the Dallas Stars in his first shutout of the season, a 2-0 win against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Thursday.

The Stars (19-16-3) improved to 8-11-2 on the road.

The Predators (22-14-2) are 0-4-1 in their past five games. It’s the first time they’ve lost five consecutive games since they went 0-4-1 from Jan. 5-14, 2016.

Tyler Pitlick gave the Stars a 1-0 lead at 7:20 of the first period on a wrist shot from the left face-off circle.

Mattias Janmark gave Dallas a 2-0 lead at 11:09 of the second with a slap shot on the rush. Predators defenseman Matt Irwin lost the puck in the Stars zone to Janmark, who beat goalie Pekka Rinne from the top of the left circle.

Nashville defenseman P.K. Subban returned to the lineup after missing 19 games with an upper-body injury. He was minus-2 with two shots on goal in 17:02.

Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson returned after missing 21 games with a broken thumb. He was minus-1 with six shots on goal in 21:17.
